Biography

Rachel Sullivan (b. 2001) is a UK based musician with a particular interest in contemporary and boundary-pushing music.

As a conductor she has held the position of Musical Director of the Southampton University mixed choir (SuSingers) and Assistant Musical Director of the Southampton University string orchestra (SuStrings), as well as regularly conducting and directing ensembles for shorter projects.

Rachel composes predominantly contemporary instrumental works, as well as writing and arranging for choir. Her music often has metaphysical or theological undertones and intends to push the boundaries of timbre, tonality and instrumentation.

As well as being an active composer and conductor, Rachel has a keen interest in Music education and enjoys teaching one-to-one instrumental lessons to all ages both online and in Southampton.

Whilst studying Music at University of Southampton, Rachel has continued to develop as a diverse musician with a particular affinity with 21st century music.
